Day-2

1 Peter 2:9-12

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

  1. Praise the Lord for His marvelous and wonderful calling. We once were not a people but now “the people of God” (v.10), a special people, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (v9). Praise the Lord for such honorable status in the heavenly places.

With much privilege comes much responsibility. Since God has secured for us such high position, how should we live for Him on earth? Yes, we should praise Him more, yet not only with our lips but also with our conduct. Is our conduct "honorable among the Gentiles” (v12)?

Dear brothers and sisters, it is so easy for us who attend church regular to praise the Lord at church among His people but how do we conduct ourselves among the Gentiles? Is our heavenly Father glorified because they see our good works (Matthew 5:16)? Let us practice this month of praise with our lips and with our conduct, among the saints and in front of the Gentiles that our heavenly Father’s Name may be praised.
